As we enter the sacred season of Lent, we are called to pause, reflect, and renew our commitment to peace and unity. Lent reminds us that true change begins in the heart. It is a time to reject hatred and division, and to embrace compassion, reconciliation, and solidarity.

“Righteousness exalts a nation.” (Proverbs 14:34)

Peace is not built on violence or false promises—it is built on justice, respect for human dignity, and the collective resolve to protect our communities. We remember those who have suffered from conflict—families torn apart, lives misled, communities deprived of peace. Their stories remind us: peace is not an option, it is a moral imperative.

“Make every effort to live in peace with everyone.” (Hebrews 12:14)

This is our calling as Filipinos: to be instruments of peace in our homes, schools, workplaces, and communities.

Let this Lenten season renew our faith in one another and strengthen our unity as a people. As one nation, let us choose dialogue over division, compassion over hatred, and nation-building over destruction.

Peace is our path. Unity is our strength. Healing is our future.
